Your Wedding: A Dream Come True?

Once upon a time in an era long ago (before Wedding Planners), a little girl dreamed about her wedding day. What started her dreaming was her experience as a flower girl at a relative's wedding. She loved the delicate chiffon dress that she wore that day. As she walked down the aisle dropping rose buds on the white runner, she pretended that she was the bride. When all the wedding guests smiled at her as she walked by, the little girl felt happier than she ever had before in her life. From that day on, she began to plan for the day when she would be walking down the aisle as the bride.

Years later, she accepted the proposal of her prince charming. Although the little girl had grown into a lovely young woman, she still had the fantasy idea of what her wedding would be like. When she looked down at the shiny diamond engagement ring on her finger, she didn't think about how her prince charming was able to afford to pay for that ring. Would he still be making payments on it after they were married? That question never even occurred to her.

This lovely girl continued floating on her fantasy cloud until the plans for their wedding were in full swing. Since there were no wedding planners, she and her fiance talked about how they pictured the wedding day. The bride-to-be had very definite ideas since she had been planning her wedding since she was a child. Her sweetheart had never given weddings any thought before. He wasn't very comfortable with any discussion about the wedding day. The more they tried to talk about their wedding preparations, the more tension grew between them.

After she broke down in tears, the mother of the bride offered to help with the preparations. Both young people were eager to have the mom take over, especially when she offered to plan the wedding with the mother of the groom. All plans would be brought to the couple for their approval. Both of them breathed a sigh of relief. They went off into fantasy land believing that their wedding planning problems were over.

From that day on, there were weekly calls and meetings to hash out all the details about the upcoming wedding. Constant questions about their preferences. What colors did they want for the wedding and reception? How many guests would be invited by each side? Did they want a big wedding or a small one?

What kind of cake did they want? Did they want a band or a dj for the reception? What kind of music did they want for the wedding and for the reception? What about flowers? How many people would be in the wedding party? Would the wedding be formal or informal? Did they want a garden wedding or a church wedding? The questions went on and on.

Just finding the perfect wedding gown took weeks of shopping and fittings. Even though the mothers were acting as wedding planners, the stress continued to mount on the couple. The expense also continued to climb, and they realized they were going to be in debt for a long time to pay for their wedding. They had moments when they even questioned whether they wanted to have a wedding at all. They actually considered running off to elope.

Believe it or not, all the questions got answered. All the decisions were made in time for the wedding. The parents of the couple decided to split the cost of the wedding to save them from the debt.

On their wedding day, the weather was perfect. Even the flowers arrived on time and the cake was incredible. Everyone cried with joy during the wedding. All the family and guests danced to the romantic music at the reception.

The newly married couple left for their honeymoon, happy and excited to start their new life together. Their parents felt closer to each other having helped the couple with the wedding preparations. Isn't it wonderful to have a dream actually come true?
