Your Wedding and a Martini Fountain
|
There are many ways you can do the drinks at your wedding. Of course you will probably offer a variety of soft drinks and punches, as well as water, but it is the alcoholic drinks that can be expensive. Some couples decide that it is more cost effective to have a bar where you have to pay for your own drinks, but others find this to be tacky. Other couples decide to have an open bar, but this can get quite expensive, totaling thousands of dollars. Some couples decide to have a martini fountain and offer a variety of martinis. This can be pricey as well, but if this is the only drink you are serving other than champagne, you might not have to spend too much money. Often these fountains only come with a limited amount of vodka, and sometimes they are made of beautiful ice sculptures. You can buy pre-made fountains that are of materials you can keep, or you can go for the ice fountains that will slowly melt. Usually it is the ice ones that are more expensive and you will probably have to pay for each bottle of vodka that is used in the fountain. Having a martini fountain is a very classy decision, but no couple should feel like they have to provide these kinds of drinks at their reception. For couples on a budget, it may be best to just provide a glass of champagne for toasting and then relying in cheaper non-alcoholic drinks for the rest of the liquid refreshments. If you feel you cannot afford the more expensive alcoholic drinks do not feel like you have to apologize. Your wedding is a time to celebrate and you should be able to do so without going broke in the process. If you do decide to have a martini fountain at your wedding reception then try to come up with ways you can keep the cost manageable. Maybe you could kindly ask guests to have no more than one drink and go with an expensive vodka. If you are going to offer unlimited drinks from this fountain, then you may want to choose a cheaper vodka to keep the cost down. Joanne is an author of Decorz.com.
