In 1783, settlers crossed the Appalachian Mountains moving west and settled down founding the town of Dandridge, Tennessee. It sits on the banks of the French Broad River and is located in Jefferson County. Dandridge saw a significant amount growth until the building of the railroad from Knoxville to Virginia in 1856.
