Choosing The Right Bed For You

Do you suffer from back ache or leg cramps? Wake up with a headache? Have you ever considered it might be your bed and the mattress you sleep on that are causing your problems? I’m not saying all your troubles can be solved with the right bed but getting a good nights sleep is important to your over all health and choosing the right bed for you is how you’ll get a good nights sleep!

What does your current bed look like? Starting to look a little worn? Sagging in the middle? Can you feel the springs when you lie on it? All of these are signs that you are due for a new bed. Beds are one of those things out of sight out of mind so we don’t stop to think much about when we should buy a new one. But a new bed with the right mattress can do wonders for your sleeping habits!

A bed is a very personal thing. We all have our own preferences and needs but here’s some general information that will help you buy the best bed for you. Remember if you have a medical condition you should always check with your doctor first.

If you buy a good quality bed it will last you around 10 years. If your current bed is more than 10 years old you should at least replace the mattress. You should also never buy a used mattress even if it seems to be a great deal. A used mattress may have dust mites or other nasty bets but even worse it could already be sagged to fit the shape of the previous owner’s body and that means you could get a very uncomfortable sleep.

Beds are available in singles, twins, doubles, queens, and kings. A double will just barely sleep two people comfortably. A queen is the most common size of bed for two people and if you have a large room you can go for the big king. But remember don’t fill your room with so much bed you cannot get the dresser drawers open or the closet.

There are also many different types of beds including poster beds, beds with under bed storage, canopy beds, and so many other types. Under bed storage is popular if you are limited in storage space but if you are going to put the bed up against the wall and won’t be able access the storage then there’s no point in buying a bed with drawers.

There are also many different types of mattresses. The most important thing to remember when buying a mattress is to buy a quality one! It’s worth every penny!

You’ve probably heard the myth that you should buy the firmest mattress available but it’s really not that simple. Of course too soft of a mattress will lead to aches and pains including back ache but for some people a mattress that is too firm is just as bad. The trick to buying the right mattress is to try them and find the right one that provides the support your back needs.

Most modern mattresses use a coil spring system which supports the entire body. There are two styles of coil mattresses. The independent coil mattress has each coil stand alone which means there is flexible support to all areas of the body. This style tends to cost a bit more. A continuous spring system has all the coils attached to each other so the mattress is less likely to sag but it is also not as capable of shaping to your body.

Memory foam has also become quite popular in the past few years. This is a dense foam that is sensitive to body heat so it molds to the shape of the person giving the body good weight distribution and it’s also comfortable.

Choosing the right bed and the right mattress for you means you’ll get a much better nights sleep and you’ll feel more alert and alive in the morning. It also means some of those nasty aches and pains might just disappear completely. So isn’t it time you purchased the right bed for you?
