Fun Fly Facts
No matter how clean and properly maintained a home is it is likely at least one or two files will enter the premises. The household fly is the most common fly in the world. There are a large number of other flies that cause problems in homes, barns, and vehicles. As annoying as they can be there are a large number of interesting fly facts that many individuals are completely unaware of.
Files are famous for carrying bacteria and diseases. It is not common for an individual or animal to become sick after having an unpleasant experience with a fly. It has been noted by numerous scientists that the average fly carries more than one million different pieces of bacteria on them.
How a fly transmits bacteria or diseases through a human being or an animal is truly amazing. A fly has a needle that they inject into the skin of a human being or animal and then the liquid is often ingested by the fly. With all of the bacteria that is found on the body of a fly it is highly likely that the bacteria may be injected into the bloodstream of a person or animal once they have been attacked by a fly.
A house fly varies from other fly specifies; however, a house fly has been known to live around twenty to thirty days on average. The amount of time that a fly lives will depend on a number of factors. A homeowner or animal who tries to kill a fly is likely to reduce its lifespan; however, flies can also die sooner in environments that are unsafe or do not have any food.
How a fly flies is another truly amazing thing. It has been said that a fly can flap and beat their wings up to two hundred times a second! The majority of flies only flap and beat their wings when their feet are not touching the ground or another surface. A fly will often stop beating their wings as soon as their feet touch some sort of surface material.
Flies can only eat food that is liquid-like; therefore, they take extra steps to ensure that they can eat just about any food. The standard house fly is known to vomit on their food to help soften up the food. They often turn food into a softer solid or liquid that can be easily eaten. A fly can live without food for around two days, but after that the fly may be likely to die.
There are numerous ways to kill files if and when they may become a problem. It is not uncommon for an individual to use a fly swatter or a magazine to squish a fly. For taking care of a larger number of flies a fly spay or fly trap may be needed. A example of a fly trap is sticky tape that is hung from the ceiling or a place in an area where flies regularly land.
If flies are not properly taken care of there is a chance that they can spread disease or lay a large number of eggs for a large infestation of flies. Homeowners or stable owners are encourage to try and exterminate any existing files before the problem becomes out of control.
