You’ve see the commercials where a gal is wearing a certain perfume or a guy is wearing a specific cologne and they are attracted to each other. If you’re thinking ya sure it doesn’t work like that. Nothing could be further from the truth. Read on to learn how fragrances affect us.
Ever wondered why you are attracted to someone of the opposite sex? Did you think it was because of the way they look or your similar interests? Well yes they certainly do play a role but so does the way you smell. Believe it or not.
As humans we really aren’t much different from the animal world. When animals are in heat pheromones are what attract a mate. Well the secret of sexual attraction is the same for humans – pheromones – and that’s why the perfume or cologne you wear can have such an affect.
Each of us is born with one million apocrine glands whose only job is to produce a specific body smell. They are activated upon sexual maturity and are often called the “human sex scent.”
Perfumes originated in Egypt where they were used to embalm the dead. Later they because used as a sexual aphrodisiac to attract a mate. Different fragrances evoke different feelings and responses in different individuals.
Patchoulis is sweet with a strong musky fragrance which is considered very sexy. It’s one of those fragrances you either love or hate because it is so strong. But blended with other fragrances tones down its strong musky fragrance and creates a very sexy perfume or cologne that almost all individuals are attracted to.
Jasmine has long been recognized as a sensual fragrance and it is very popular in perfumes because it has the ability to enhance sexual attraction and pleasure. It has been used in women’s perfumes for ages.
Ylang ylang is the fragrance of a woman. When used in low concentrations and blended with other fragrances it’s a very romantic fragrance. On it’s own it is too strong for most.
Musk is a natural sexual attraction and enhancer that is subtle and almost undetectable yet when added to almost any perfume blend it packs a very powerful punch! Musk is thought to be the top fragrance for attracting members of the opposite sex.
There is no question that perfumes are used to attract members of the opposite sex. But perfumes do more than that. Because of their fragrance they can give you confidence, relax you, and make you feel good, or make you feel sexy. Women and men alike don’t always use fragrances to attract a partner.
Why do you think we use all those wonderful smelling bath products or lotions? Why do take so much time choosing a fragrance? You choose certain fragrances because you are either attracted to them or you wish to accomplish something. For example lavender is very relaxing and thus a great choice for a relaxing bath. Rose is very sensual as well as invigorating thus a great choice to give your energy a lift and make you feel great.
So the next time you are buying perfume or cologne think about the fragrance. What feelings it evokes in you, and what are you trying to accomplish. Don’t limit yourself to one fragrance rather explore the world of fragrances and find the many that are suited to you.
